Aquamarine and morganite are both part of the beryl mineral family. Emerald is a part of the beryl family as well. However, unlike emeralds, which tend to have a lot of inclusions, morganite and aquamarine gemstones are relatively free of inclusions, making them more eye-appealing and easier to care for.
Aquamarine's name comes from the Latin word for seawater. Aquamarine is a popular birthstone for March babies that is known to increase courage, happiness, intelligence, wisdom and youthfulness. Besides being one of the most favorite gemstones among contemporary jewelry designers, Aquamarine has been used by people to reduce anxiety and calm nerves since the middle ages!
Morganite was named after American financier J.P. Morgan, who was an avid gem collector. Shortly after morganite's initial discovery, George Kunz, who was the chief gemologist for Tiffany and Company, suggested that the gemstone be named after his friend to thank him for his financial support to the arts and sciences.
Beryl Metaphysical Properties:
It was viewed as a healing stone in ancient Greece, where precious beryl was dipped into drinking water and that water was drunk to remove kidney stones and bladder ailments. Some oral traditions state that beryls of all kinds make the lazy more industrious and the slow-minded more clever.
