But this isn't your everyday volcanic activity-in fact, scientists believe that the last kimberlite eruption happened over 10 billion years ago. This means that the diamonds we see today in the market are literally billions of years old.
The ancient Romans and Greeks believed that diamonds were tears cried by the gods. It is the hardest stone known to man with excellent fire and brilliance which is the main reason for its popularity.
